Honey
was a very special girl to the GSP Rescue of Wisconsin. She spent time with many
of our fosters, and touched everyone's hearts like no other. When we found a
home for Honey parting with her, like with any of our charges, was both a sad
and happy occasion. Unfortunately, a faulty leash caused Honey to run free from
her new parents and straight into the path of an oncoming car. Honey's injuries
were severe, and instead of living the rest of her life in terrible pain all
involved decided to end her suffering and send her along to the Rainbow Bridge.
There she can run and play with all the other shorthairs who passed from this
world, all under the watchful eye of the rescue's guardian, Brownie. Good luck
to you sweet Honey.
The death of Honey was very tragic for us, and unfortunately is not all that uncommon. German Shorthairs love to run, and sometimes their playful instincts override their hearing --- and busy streets are everywhere. There is no fault to be had, just a lesson to be learned.
So, the next time you think to leave your dog off leash out of the house, please think of Honey and leash your loved ones.
Until we meet again little girl ...
